SELFRIDGES COLOUR CHANDELIER
The installation was a commission form Selfridges as part of their Meet the Makers campaign in London. It takes inspiration from traditional Mexican sugar lollies called cachetadas and the way they colour light as it passes through them very much like stained glass. By combining cyan, magenta and yellow lollies we obtain a whole range of secondary and tertiary colours as they overlay. The lollies are suspended with an acrylic structure and act much like a chandelier, light passes through them to bathe a conglomeration of white sugar cones in colour. The chandelier is 5 meters wide and used 130 kilos of sugar to make.
